Will there be delays in payment processing and trade, due to the situation in Ukraine?
In response to the recent developments in Ukraine, the EU Council, the UK and the US have introduced additional restrictive measures, known as sanctions, against the Russian Federation.
Because of these sanctions, payments to and from certain countries may take longer or be refused. We may need extra time to check whether a payment follows the sanctions that apply. We’re sorry if this causes inconvenience and can assure you that we aim to process legitimate transactions as quickly as possible.
If you expect to do business with people or organisations in one of the countries below, please contact the bank in advance. This helps reduce the risk that we cannot carry out your transaction because of sanctions.
We will keep monitoring the situation closely and share updates when needed.
More about sanctions and Triodos Bank’s response
Sanctions are restrictive measures. They can apply to whole countries or regimes, certain sectors, organisations and individuals. The international community uses sanctions to positively influence the behaviour of a country, regime, individual or organisation. Sanctions are applied when human rights are being violated, war is being waged, or international peace and security are at risk.
As part of the financial services sector, and in line with our own mission of making money available for positive change, Triodos must follow sanctions rules across all of our activities. Sanctions are not new. We regularly check payments, customers and counterparties to make sure we follow the sanctions that apply.
Because of the seriousness of the situation in Ukraine, Triodos currently uses a stricter approach for trade and payments to and from the following countries:
Country | ISO Country Code
Russia | RU
Belarus | BY
Ukraine | UA
